About Us

Hockey’s Rural Contracting is a young family company that packages a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience across a broad cross-section of rural contracting services in the Atherton, Mareeba, and greater Tablelands regions in Far North Queensland.

The Hockey Family started out in the Northern Territory in 2004, where Murray worked in the roles station mechanic, bore mechanic, stockman, leading hand, head stockman, overseer/assistant manager, training supervisor and station manager; all the time building on a family heritage of working with Indigenous Peoples - as a mentor, an encourager and a facilitator - with appropriate cultural awareness.

Tanya, his wife, has worked as a school teacher, station office manager, station cook and, most importantly, as a mother.

Hockey’s Rural Contracting is characterised by:

  • Integrity - straight forward dealings

  • Passion and Dedication – we love what we do and we do it well

  • Care – we care for your personnel, cattle, property and equipment as if it were our own

  • Efficiency and Effectiveness – we perform our services to add best value to your business
